Malaysian Temples
Sep 2008While in Penang, myself and Jacqui toured around seeing the various sights, including a visit to Kek Lok Si, one of the best known Buddhist temples on the island.
Not knowing the origins of the swastika, I was a bit perturbed to see it everywhere, even if it was reversed, but I've since learnt that the left-facing one represents love and mercy, while the right represents strength and intelligence, which is presumably why the Nazis chose the right-facing one.
On the way home we stopped off at two other Buddhist temples as well, which is where the dragon and lion photos were taken.
